I grew up in a small mountain town in Oregon. I only had 19 students in my graduating class! After graduation, I moved to the "big" city of Rexburg, Idaho and attended Brigham Young University-Idaho. I then moved to Orem, Utah where I received a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from the Utah College of Dental Hygiene.
I decided I wanted to be a dental hygienist in elementary school. Becoming a hygienist is one of the best decisions I have ever made!
Three things that I LOVE about dental hygiene:
MAKING PATIENTS FEEL IMPORTANT: My favorite part of dental hygiene is getting to know different people. I value listening to patients and letting them know I care. I spend time at the end of each appointment writing down what was discussed during the appointment along with a nice note.
IMPACTING PATIENTS LIVES: I find alot of satisfaction helping patients achieve the highest degree of oral and systemic health. I recently had a patient that had severe xerostomia. I was able to give the patient information that impacted the patients day-to-day life. I was also able to mail the patient more information regarding xerostomia from the office I was temping at.
EDUCATING PATIENTS: I am passionate about preventing dental disease. I spend time every week keeping up on current dental topics. I contribute to a blog geared towards educating the public on various oral hygiene topics. I love being able to answer patients questions with research to back me up!!
I enjoy spending time with my husband and two little boys, reading, organizing and exercising.
